Visit to USA - Attendance at International Visitor Leadership Program
Mr. Somphou Keomounmany, member Lao Bar Association and Executive Committee of the Lao Bar Association was honoured to be selected by the US Embassy, Vientiane to participate in the International Visitor Leadership Program in October 2007. This Program brings participants to the United States from all over the world each year to meet and confer with their professional counterparts and to experience the U.S through their presence.

Visit to Singapore - Attendance at Annual Conference of International Bar Association
Mr. Mixay Thepmany, member of the Lao Bar Association and Inspection Committee visited Singapore in October 2007 to attend training and Annual Conference organized by the International Bar Association through support of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Visit to Canada - Attendance at EQUITAS Training
In July 2007, Mr. Somphou Keomounmany, member Executive Committee and Lao Bar Association visited Canada to attend training in Human Rights organized by EQUITAS, a Canadian Non-Governmental Organization.

In addition to attending the EQUITAS training, Mr. Somphou Keomounmany also visited Ottawa where he was took on a study tour of Canadian Bar Association, Legal Aid Ontario Area Office, Law Society of Upper Canada, Student Legal Aid Clinic (University of Ottawa), South Ottawa Community Legal Clinic, Supreme Court of Canada and Ottawa Court House.

Visit to Korea - Attendance at Commemorative Symposium of the 100th Anniversary of Seoul Bar Association
Mr. Sysavong Vithasay, Vice President, Lao Bar Association and Mr. Somphou Keomounmany, member Executive Committee, Lao Bar Association visited Korea in September 2007 upon the invitation of the Seoul Bar Association. The representatives of the Lao Bar Association joined other bodies of lawyers who gathered in Seoul to commemorate 100th Anniversary of the Seoul Bar Association.

Visit to China - Attendance at Inter Pacific Bar Association's 17th Annual Meeting and Conference
In April 2007, Mr. Somphou Keomounmany, member Executive Committee of Lao Bar Association visited Beijing, China to attend the 17th Annual Meeting and Conference of Inter-Pacific Bar Association.

Visit to Vietnam - Attendance at 2nd China-ASEAN Top Forum on Legal Cooperation
In December 2007, President Lao Bar Association Mr. Phoumy Sioudomphanh and Mr. Somphou Keomounmany attended the China-ASEAN Top Forum on Legal Cooperation held in Vietnam.

Visit to Malaysia
In early 2006, Mr. Sysavong Vithasay, Vice President, Lao Bar Association and Mr. Somphou Keomounmany, member Executive Committee, Lao Bar Association visited Kuala Lumpur to attend a conference on legal services.

Canadian Bar Association Training with the Lao Bar Association, December 2005 Between 5-10 December 2005 members of the Canadian Bar Association travelled to Vientiane to conduct training sessions on various aspects of the law with members of the Lao Bar Association. Topics covered included property law, trial and court advocacy, case preparation and client interviewing skills. This was a good opportunity for members of the Lao Bar Association to take advantage of the Canadian Bar Association's experience and knowledge.

Visit to the LBA from Justice Nyland of the Supreme Court of South Australia

In November of 2005 the Lao Bar Association was pleased to receive a visit from Justice Margaret Nyland of the Supreme Court of South Australia. Justice Nyland spent some time visiting the LBA to hear about its progress and was very interested to hear about the activities being undertaken for the benefit of the Laolegal profession and the Lao people. Her Honour also took the time to visit with Mr Davone Vangvichith, Vice President of the People's Supreme Court and other judges. Her Honour found her visit to the Lao PDR very interesting and is looking forward to visiting again to see her Lao legal collegues here.

Conference in Phnom Penh, November 2005
In November 2005 members of the Lao Bar Association travelled to Phnom Penh in Cambodia to attend a legal conference concerning the role of lawyers in society. This was an opportunity for the Lao Bar Association to meet other lawyers in the region and share experiences and learn from the Cambodian legal profession.

Law Asia Conference in Ho Chi Minh City, October 2005
In October 2005 members of the Lao Bar Association attended a law conference in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, where they were able to meet their legal colleagues and share experiences and learn from other lawyers in the South East Asian region.
