Welcome to the Lao Bar Association from Mr. Phoumy Sioudomphanh, President of the Lao Bar Association.

I am delighted to welcome you to the website for the Lao Bar Association. The Lao Bar Association is a very important organization and Lao lawyers work together to protect the rights of Lao citizens.

After I first obtained my legal qualifications I worked in the Ministry of Justice as a senior public prosecutor, and from this work I realised the importance of the role of the independent lawyer. When I retired from the Ministry of Justice I was asked to become the President of the Lao Bar Association.

I believe in the future of the Lao legal profession and I hope to see the Lao Bar Association become an independent, dynamic organisation in the future.

I am very pleased that so many recent law graduates have chosen to become lawyers and join the Lao Bar Association, and I look forward to working with them as colleagues in the profession in the years to come.
